Terms & Contributor Agreement

Beta notice: Zaprudr is in invite-only beta. This document is a plain-language working draft, not final legal terms, and will be replaced after review by counsel. If you're not comfortable proceeding under a draft, wait for v1 — your footage, your call.

Contributor Agreement

This is the agreement between you (the person uploading footage) and Zaprudr, Inc. ("Zaprudr") when you check the box at upload.

1. You keep your copyright

Uploading transfers nothing. You remain the sole owner of your footage, always.

2. You appoint Zaprudr as your non-exclusive licensing agent

You grant Zaprudr a worldwide, non-exclusive right to host, display, market, and sublicense your footage to buyers (newsrooms, platforms, documentary producers, and similar) at or above the prices you set, and to collect license fees on your behalf. "Non-exclusive" means you can still license your footage yourself or through anyone else.

3. The split: 75 / 25, in your favor

For every license fee Zaprudr collects on your footage, you receive 75% and Zaprudr retains 25%. Payouts go to the email you registered with. During beta, payouts are settled manually within 14 days of collection.

4. You promise the footage is real and yours

  1. You personally captured the footage (or hold full rights to it);
  2. It is authentic and unaltered — no generative AI, no compositing, no staging presented as real;
  3. The metadata you submit (time, location, device) is accurate to your best knowledge;
  4. It wasn't captured unlawfully (e.g., trespass, wiretapping) and doesn't violate anyone's rights.

5. Verification: you consent to the analysis — and to its results

Zaprudr's purpose is documenting real events. You consent to forensic analysis of your footage and its metadata (content hashing, provenance signals such as C2PA, geometric and temporal corroboration against other angles of the same event) and to public display of the resulting verification signals alongside your footage — including when those signals are inconclusive or unfavorable. Zaprudr publishes evidence, not verdicts. A corroboration score is a documented measurement, not a legal certification of truth by Zaprudr.

6. Takedowns and removal

Zaprudr may remove footage that appears inauthentic, unlawful, or in violation of this agreement. You may withdraw your footage at any time by written request; withdrawal ends future licensing, but licenses already granted to buyers survive (that's what buyers pay for).

7. If someone disputes your footage

You'll cooperate reasonably with Zaprudr in resolving authenticity or ownership disputes. If you misrepresented ownership or authenticity, you're responsible for the consequences, and Zaprudr may recover from your share any amounts it must refund to buyers.

8. Term

This agreement runs until you withdraw your footage or Zaprudr's beta terms are replaced by v1 terms (you'll be asked to re-accept; declining withdraws your footage from future licensing).

Site Terms (short beta version)

Zaprudr provides verification signals in good faith but the service is offered "as is" during beta, without warranties. Don't scrape, don't re-upload others' footage, don't use licensed footage beyond the tier you purchased. Licensing requests and uploads require an invite code. Privacy (short beta version)

We collect what you give us: name, email, footage and its metadata, and — for the waitlist — your city. Uploaded footage and its location/time metadata are public by design; your email is never public. We use email only to run the service (payouts, license requests, launch notices). No ads, no selling data. To delete your data or footage: hello@zaprudr.com.

Plain-language promise: if any of this ever contradicts what the product says on the tin — you own your footage, you keep the majority, we document rather than declare truth — the product promise wins.
